Description

In The Sound of Music, a true story, Maria, a postulant nun proves too high-spirited for the religious life, and is despatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain’s immediate service in their navy. The family’s narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides a thrilling and inspirational finale.

The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein, The Sound of Music has become one of the world’s most beloved musical, and the motion picture version remains the most popular movie musical of all time.

Casting will be fair and inclusive. Our goal is to keep kids busy and stimulated throughout the 3 week camp. The final production will be fully realized with sets, costumes, lights and the roar of a supportive crowd.

Students will be working with a Director, Choreographer and Musical Director during rehearsals. There will be a Production Manager present at all times.

“I wanted the students to take part in all three disciplines i.e. acting, singing and dance so that when they perform on stage, they have what we call 'chops'-that's how actors are taught in England. And the skills learnt in the performing arts are so useful to young people whatever future career they choose.”
