  • Gabe’s Sunday Afternoon Acting/Improv Class

    We are very excited to begin our new improvisation program on the Westside. This acting technique class, designed for students ages 9 yrs to 14, will be taught by Gabriel Oliva. Gabriel has a Bachelors Degree in Acting from USC and trained for 5 years at the renowned Groundlings school of comedy. The class would focus on acting fundamentals through improv. This will be a 20 hour class over 10 weeks, with an informal presentation for parents.

    Dates: Sunday, February 16th 2020 – Sunday, May 3rd 2020

    Times: Sundays 3:00-5:00 pm

    Location: Upstage family home studio in the Westwood area Address upon registration

  • Patrick’s Sunday Afternoon Acting Class

    We are very excited to bring back Patrick’s Saturday morning acting class in South Pasadena. This acting technique class, designed for students ages 9 to 15 years old, will be taught by Patrick Hallahan.

    Patrick will use his own experience as a student at one of the world’s most important performing arts schools, Julliard, as the basis for the program. Patrick’s acting class is coming back in the new year and this time he will be concentrating on Shakespeare. The works of the Bard have long been used as the ideal material to learn acting technique, and Patrick will be working with students to develop character, stage technique, and intent through exercises, scene study and discussion. This is a great class for all students interested in acting.

    This will be a 20 hour class over 10 weeks, with no performance at the end.

    Dates: Sunday, February 16th 2020 – Sunday, May 3rd 2020

    Times: Sundays 2:00-4:00 pm

  • The Jungle Book Kids Burbank/NoHo

    Upstage is thrilled to be bringing a new program to the Burbank and North Hollywood area!

    The jungle is jumpin’ with a jazzy beat in Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS. This program is designed to teach kids theatre skills while working on the three elements of musical theatre: singing, dancing, and acting. The program will culminate in a fully realized show complete with professionally designed costumes, lights, and sets.

    Dates: Thursday’s 3:45 pm – 5:45 pm March 19th through May 30th (Check further information tab for specific extended hours and extra rehearsal days)

    Performances: Friday, May 29th 2020 4:00 pm Call 5:30 pm Performance
    Saturday, May 30th 9:30 am Call 11:00 am Performance

    Payment Options: You can also choose to pay in three monthly installments of $280

  • Annie Kids (Ages 5-9)

    Based on the popular comic strip, Annie KIDS features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure. This program is designed to teach kids theatre skills while working on the three elements of musical theatre: singing, dancing, and acting. The program will culminate in a fully realized show complete with professionally designed costumes, lights, and sets.

    Dates: Tuesday’s from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm starting January 28th at The Pico

    Performances: Saturday, May 16th at 11am, with a 9:30am Call Time Sunday, May 17th 1pm Performance, with a 12pm Call Time.

  • Wizard of Oz Brentwood Year Round (Ages 5-11)

    This classic tale, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home, has been entertaining audiences for generations in The Wizard of Oz! This year round program is designed to teach kids theatre skills, while working on the three elements of musical theatre: singing, dance, and acting. The program will culminate in multiple fully realized performances.

    Dates: Thursday’s 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Starting January 30th through Sunday, May 17th, 2020

    Performances: Saturday, May 16th, 2020 12:30pm call time for a 2:00pm Performance
    Sunday, May 17th, 2020 9:00am call time for a 10:00am Performance

    All students in 3rd through 5th grade who attend Westwood Charter Elementary School are welcome to join our after-school theatre program beginning Wednesday, September 11th or Friday, September 13th, featuring a production of the musical Annie Jr. This program is designed to teach kids theatre skills while working on the three elements of musical theatre: singing, dancing, and acting. The program will culminate in a fully realized show complete with professionally designed costumes, lights, and sets.

    Dates: Wednesdays from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm starting September 11th, 2019 through Saturday, March 28th 2020 OR Fridays from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm starting September 13th, 2019 through Saturday, March 28th, 2020

    Wednesday Cast Performances – Friday, March 27th 5pm Call Time 6:30pm Show, and Saturday, March 28th 3 pm Call 4pm Show. Cast members will also participate in school shows on Thursday, March 26th between 8 am and 12 pm (your child will be asked to arrive at school by 7:15 am)

    Friday Cast Performances – Thursday, March 26th 5pm Call Time 6:30pm Show and Saturday, March 28th 12 pm Call 1pm Show. Cast members will also participate in school shows on Friday, March 27th between 8 am and 12 pm (your child will be asked to arrive at school by 7:15 am)

  • Jason’s Westside Musical Revue 2020 (9-15 year olds)

    Musical Revue is a class focused on vocal technique to build strength, stamina and confidence through performing popular musical theatre pieces! The class will end in a showcase where the students will perform either the solo or duet they learned in this program. Taught by Upstage director, and Julliard graduate, Jason Currie.
