Parent Testimonials

“I just wanted to let you both know how blown away I was this past week watching the unfolding of the High School Musical online camp. It was so well organized and executed, and it really surpassed all of my expectations of what an online camp could be. I can’t believe how much the kids learned in such a short amount of time! I watched little Zoe gain so much confidence and pride in what she was doing. She was all laughs and smiles! This has been such a valuable growth lesson for her, and she is so excited for future weeks and what’s ahead. She is already listening to Moana songs. I just want to commend the entire staff for your positive, energetic, and creative approaches to teaching that made the experience encouraging and engaging. I tried my best to use the camp hours to get my work done, but honestly, I had so much fun watching from the sidelines! I look forward to seeing the premiere and thank you for your tireless effort in putting together a showcase & keepsake of a special summer experience!” – Ashley

“She literally almost texted us when it was over saying I miss Wicked I want to go back. Before camp, she thought online would be stupid and silly. Now, she can’t get enough. I love how she would run to her room to make up her costume and try out different outfits. The best part for me as the parent is that I knew my child was engaged and happy from 9:30 am to 2 pm! Thank you Upstage for doing what no else has ventured before!!!!!!” – Nada

“Hi! I just wanted to thank all of you for all of the hard-work and long hours you put into Wicked summer camp. You guys made the last two weeks such a great experience for me. I had so much fun, and made great memories that I will never, ever forget. I can’t wait to see the finished video! Thanks again!” – Elena

“Honestly, it was fabulous. He was out of bed, dressed and engaged daily til 2:00 or longer. What more could I ask for during this pandemic! Bravo Upstage!!!” – Jody

Gabriel Oliva : Musical Director

Gabriel Oliva

Musical Director

Not the average Spaniard, Gabriel grew up half in San Diego, and half in Seville, Spain. His first words were a "me gusta" followed shortly by "juice". After being confused for a short while (so he's told) he decided to stick to English primarily. He still speaks Spanish regularly to his family across the sea who still have a hard time believing "El Pollo Loco" is a restaurant.

Gabriel attended the USC School of Theatre and quickly transitioned into professional acting and singing after graduating with honors. Growing up with two opera-singing parents, he has an in-depth knowledge of singing technique. Gabriel’s music education continued and expanded through 10 years of performing in the barbershop group The Dapper Dans at Disneyland Resort.  His musical experience aided his transition into the world of voice-over. You can hear Gabriel’s voice in “Star Wars: Rogue One”, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” and several episodes of Disney Channel’s “Elena of Avalor”.

His junior year in high school he developed a true love for film. Making small backyard home movies with a camcorder and a couple friends was just the beginning. In 2013 he officially started his first company ADuckOnARock. They have gone on to make short films, music videos and even started pursuing the TV pilot circuit. He continues to work as a storyteller through film with One Mind Studios and ADuckOnARock ProDucktions. Within this time Michael has acted in T.V shows, Feature Films, Award Winning Short Films, Independent Features and multiple web series. He also worked for three years as an acting coach for youth and young adults in Chicago. Michael recently moved to LA with his sister, Taylor Sherry, to pursue knowledge as a student of the world.
