All students in kindergarten through 2nd grade are welcome to join our after-school Theatre Program on Wednesdays beginning January 8th, featuring a production of the musical The Jungle Book Kids. This program is designed to teach kids theatre skills while working on the three elements of musical theatre: singing, dancing, and acting. The program will culminate in a fully realized show complete with professionally designed costumes, lights, and sets.

Dates: Wednesdays from 1:00 – 3:00 pm beginning on January 8th 2020

Performances: April 23rd at 6:30 pm and April 24th at 6:30 pm

The Upstage Theatre School’s Program at Brookside Elementary School — The Jungle Book Kids 

The jungle is jumpin’ with a jazzy beat in Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS. Specially adapted from the classic Disney animated film, Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS features a host of colorful characters and your favorite songs from the movie.

Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.

All students in Kindergarten – 2nd grade are welcome to join our after-school play production class starting on Wednesday, January 8th. The class introduces basic theatre vocabulary and technique through interactive theatre games and scene practice, as well as music and dance taught by professionals. The teachers are highly qualified with many aggregate years experience in Children’s Theatre. Each child is encouraged to fully participate and is considered an integral part in our final production. Please check the production dates below, as we expect every child to be present for show weekend.

Cost: $450 per child. This can also be paid in two monthly payments of $245

Price includes: Price includes a script, and downloads of the musical tracks to practice with at home. We provide costumes and props that will live at the theatre and be used in performances. Tickets are sold separately through a link provided by Upstage in the weeks prior to performances.

Class Times

Wednesdays, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, beginning January 8th. Class will be extended for the Dress Rehearsal on April 22nd from 1-4 pm ***Lunch supervision for kinders is an optional add-on see above. 1st & 2nd grade students should report to lunch tables at dismissal to eat lunch, which is supervised by campus supervisors. Upstage staff will meet 1st & 2nd grade kids to bring into the MPR and take roll at 1 p.m.

Extra/Extended Classes

April 8th will be Extended One Hour (1:00 – 4:00 pm)
April 22nd will be Extended One Hour (1:00 – 4:00 pm)

Payment Terms

Fees must be paid in full or via payment plan to reserve a place. Cancellations before the end of the second week will receive a refund (less $100 handling fee). No refunds after commencement, however, fees can be applied toward another program or camp subject to availability. This applies to payment plans as well. Orientation Meeting

There will be a meeting for parents directly after rehearsals at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 8th. This will be an opportunity for you to meet the Upstage production team and ask any questions you may have.
