Singin' in the Rain – theater programs for kids in South Pasadena

South Pasadena could be considered the home of Upstage Theatre Schools, as Artistic Director Adrian Cohen started his first classes in the city in 1999. Since then, Upstage has produced over thirty shows and classes in the San Gabriel Valley community, and very quickly established itself as one of the best summer and after school theater programs for young performers in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Upstage San Gabriel runs its SPEF program, after school programs, acting classes, and three summer camp programs for juniors in which students focus on the production of a show over a three week period culminating in a fully staged production complete with lights, costumes and scenery in a fully equipped theater. So, whatever aspect of theatre arts young people are interested in, Upstage in South Pasadena has something to offer them in a fun and friendly environment that will help them in whatever passion they find in life.

West LA

Grease – theater programs for children in Westwood

Upstage Schools began life in 2009 as the Westwood Stage School before Adrian brought it under the umbrella of Upstage Theatre Schools, his well-established theater arts organization operating out of South Pasadena.

Like its sister school, Upstage West LA offers young performers the opportunity to develop their skills in acting, singing, and dance. The school currently runs five sessions of summer camp focusing on the production of a show from rehearsal through to final performance in a theatre, and complete with costumes, lighting and scenery. In addition to the summer camp, we also offer after school programs, tap classes, voice classes, and year round after school camp.

Upstage Schools now has two programs a year in Conejo Valley, at Brookside Elementary School. We began teaching there in Fall 2016 and now run a full juniors (grades k-2) in the spring, and seniors program (grades 3-5) in the fall. We love our students at Brookside, and would love to grow more in the Conejo Valley area. We encourage students to sign up for classes at Brookside because it is an incredible opportunity to grow individuals confidence, creativity, and a safe place to explore! Throughout the programs we focus on the production of a show from rehearsal through to final performance in a theatre, and complete with costumes, lighting and scenery.
